Nicolas-Jay L'Ensemble A Wine Symphony poster promo

Fine Art

Drawing on the spirit and style of the 1920s French posters of Cognac, Dubonnet and other libations, Nicolas-Jay commissioned renowned artist Mathieu Persan to create a series of posters celebrating our new Pinot Noir blend “L’Ensemble”. This artisan, handmade print was created in 2021. Each of the prints in this numbered series of 150 was printed by noted printer Toby Michel – an artist who has been printing the highest quality art prints for more than 40 years in his studio in Santa Monica.

Born in 1978, Mathieu Persan is the youngest of a pure mathematicians couple. He is a music lover and had learnt to play the violin, guitar, piano, trumpet, drums and bass on his own. Later, this ability to learn by himself served him for drawing. Fascinated by the graphic design universe from the 30s to the 60s, he draws an important part of his inspiration from this universe. His retro style and engaged themes have seduced the international press, publishers, writers and musicians looking for a strong graphic style for their covers.

Toby Michel was raised in upstate New York and the Maine Coast. After studying sociology and architecture at University, he switched gears and became a printer fellow at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque. In 1980, he established Angeles Press in Santa Monica as a fine art atelier to collaborate with artists and publishers in creating limited editions on stone and plate.

L’Ensemble is the first of a series of art prints and only 150 were printed in summer 2022. Each is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
